Holiday Spirit Runs Deep… All the Way to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade! Anna Smith — who supports both our Culinary and Finance teams — has been part of the 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝘆'𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 since 2011. Now that's a seriously cool Thanksgiving tradition! It all began when a family friend (and fellow hot-air balloon enthusiast) recruited her dad to help pilot the giant balloons. When Anna was old enough, she and her mom joined the fun and eventually the whole family started working the balloons together. If you know Anna, this won’t surprise you one bit — she always goes “all in” for our holiday dress-up days at Silver Maples, so of course she shines in the biggest parade of the year! Her favorite part? Sharing this tradition with her parents and watching the crowd’s faces light up as they come down the streets of NYC. Yesterday was International Men’s Day, and what better way to celebrate than lunch in the Bistro — just the guys! 😄 Sometimes it’s great to kick back, swap stories, and enjoy time with the fellas… no agenda, just good food and good company. Our guys love their weekly Men’s Coffee with Jeff Crowder, our chaplain, where donuts disappear fast, conversations take fun turns, and laughter is a guarantee. They chat hobbies, big projects, life moments — and occasionally solve all the world’s problems before 11 a.m. They’re also always up for an adventure. From visiting their friend Brook as he built (and now flies!) his own plane, to exploring the Kalamazoo Air Museum, the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, and grabbing impromptu lunches, this group stays busy and connected. Here’s to the men of Silver Maples — keeping spirits high, friendships strong, and fun at the forefront. 💙

Giving Back, Together 💜 We got a head start on holiday giving this year — our community showed up in a big way! Residents and staff donated pantry staples, cleaning supplies, diapers, and other high-need items for Faith in Action’s food distribution program. Thanks to the generosity of our caring community, families in need will feel a little extra support this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who contributed — your kindness truly makes a difference!

♻️ National Recycling Day is this Saturday, November 15! Yesterday, we kicked things off early with a special visit from Beth from FarmSudz, right here in Chelsea. If you’ve ever been to their shop, you know Beth—her amazing smile, deep product knowledge, and of course, her signature blue hair make her unforgettable! Beth joined us for a presentation hosted by our 3R’s Committee, sharing practical and inspiring ways to reduce waste at home. She highlighted simple swaps like shampoo and conditioner bars, refillable laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, and the company’s commitment to using compostable and recyclable packaging whenever possible. She also worked with our committee to create a fantastic hallway display near our dining rooms to showcase sustainable products and easy steps we can all take to be better stewards of our environment. We loved having her here at Silver Maples—and we’re grateful to our 3R’s Committee (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) for continuing to educate, inspire, and champion greener living in our community. 💚♻️

Today, we gathered for a moving Veterans Day program led by Chaplain Jeff Crowder, with beautiful music provided by our Silver Maples & Friends Choir. Their voices filled the room with “American Anthem,” “My Country ’Tis of Thee,” “America the Beautiful,” and “God Bless America” — each song a reminder of the deep gratitude we hold for those who have served. Chaplain Crowder shared a meaningful prayer, reminding us that while we can never fully repay the courage and sacrifice of our veterans, we can strive each day to show our appreciation through love, respect, and gratitude. We closed with a group photo of our Silver Maples veterans — a powerful image of pride, service, and unity. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸 Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve. Spa day at Silver Maples was pure pampering! Thanks to Mary Kay rep Theresa for the fabulous facials, lotions, and makeup, and to Main Street Dermatology for the generous samples. Our amazing staff gave hand massages and did nails, and we wrapped it all up with a glamour photo shoot! Who says you can’t treat yourself like a star?

Patti, the culinary Director, was friendly and gracious! We met a few residents, some of whom we've known from living in the Chelsea area for 40+ yrs. My mother-in-law lived at SilverMaples for over 7 years and enjoyed her time there immensely. She developed many new friendships and the staff treated her like family. My only criticism was that when she moved over to assisted living and needed more help, they were occasionally understaffed.

I have been the Marketing and Sales Intern at Silver Maples of Chelsea for the last two summers and I could not have asked for a better organization to learn from, grow at, and serve. I consistently tell others if I could work here forever, I would! The bonds I have created with both the residents and staff is unmatched. The amenities & services are great, the care is wonderful, and the environment is warm & welcoming. I am so lucky to have spent two summers here; I cannot recommend this organization enough for individuals seeking employment & for families and their loved ones who are beginning to look at retirement home options.

It has been almost a month since my mom passed. She lived both in the independent living apartments and assisted living apartments at Silver Maples. We were very happy that my mom could be close to us in Chelsea and part of such a wonderful community. I miss my mom and I miss Silver Maples. Each time I drive to town I think of stopping at Silver Maples. Then I remind myself, no mom is not there anymore. The sense of loss goes beyond mom to the loss of a whole community of people that would greet us, tell us how much they loved my mom and her dog, and who supported us in the care of our mother. We (our family, staff and residents of Silver Maples) shared many times of happiness including when she won first prize for her Halloween costume (She looked forward to Halloween every year.) and sadness knowing she was near end of life. Thanks Silver Maples. Each time I drive by I will be thinking....I wonder how everyone is doing! Take care.
