A Taste of France at Silver Maples! We sipped, we savored, and we swirled our way through a fabulous afternoon of French wines from old, family-owned vineyards. 🍷💫 The wonderful Yvonne DeParis from Great Lakes Wine & Spirits—who knows a thing or two after 31 years in the biz—guided us through each pour with passion and expertise. This week we had the pleasure of welcoming 11th and 12th-grade students who are enrolled in the 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘂𝗺 (𝗦𝗪𝗪𝗖) 𝗖𝗧𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺​ to Silver Maples! These future healthcare professionals practiced general, psychosocial, and health history interviews with our residents—helping them build essential soft skills before starting their clinicals in a skilled nursing setting. On their final day, they spent quality time with residents—going for walks, grabbing coffee in the Courtyard Café, baking treats, and playing games. ❤️ A special thank you to JoAnne Reynold, our VP of Human Resources, for sharing insights on the paid internship opportunity we offer and the value of volunteer experience in launching a successful healthcare career. Our new Crochet Club is stitching together fun, friendship, and creativity! Each week, 10-15 residents (and even a few staff members!) gather to crochet—some crafting cozy throw blankets, others picking up a hook for the first time, and many rediscovering a skill they haven’t used in years.
