It’s Wild to be 90+! We hosted an exclusive rainforest-themed party to celebrate our amazing residents aged 90 and better. Guests were treated to an elegant spread featuring shrimp cocktail with horseradish & capers, mini Beef Wellingtons with Madeira cream, and stuffed mushroom caps with chicken and Italian fennel sauce topped with roasted tomato butter. The Jackson French Quarter Band took us on a musical journey through the decades – starting from 90 years ago and beyond – reminding us just how much life, history, and wisdom these incredible individuals hold. To make the day extra special, some of our younger residents volunteered as servers, bringing plates, smiles, and plenty of cheer to our honored guests. Reaching 90+ is no small feat, and we believe it deserves to be celebrated in style. Here’s to honoring their stories, laughter, resilience, and the vibrant spirit they bring to our community every single day. #ItsWildToBe90Plus #CelebrateLife #positiveagingexperience
🌟 Celebrating Mark Royce – Life Member Award Recipient 🌟 Please join us in recognizing Mark Royce, our Director of Finance, who was honored with the 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at the 2025 LeadingAge Michigan Member Awards Gala! With nearly 25 years of service in nonprofit senior living, Mark’s career has been marked by thoughtful leadership, unwavering integrity, and a deep commitment to mission-based work. But what makes Mark truly remarkable isn’t just his financial expertise—it’s his heart for the work, his humility, and the way he lifts up everyone around him. After a brief retirement in 2014, Mark quickly realized he wasn’t done making a difference. He returned to serve Silver Maples—first part-time, then stepping fully into the role of Director of Finance in 2020. His leadership has strengthened our financial foundation, while his ethical guidance and calm, steady presence have been a gift to our entire community. Now, as Mark prepares to retire (for the 2nd time) at the end of July, we celebrate not only his award but the incredible legacy he leaves behind. Mark’s work has touched thousands of lives—residents, staff, board members, and community partners—and his impact will be felt for many years to come. Thank you, Mark, for your service, your wisdom, and the way you’ve lived out the mission every single day. You truly are one of a kind. 💜 #LifeMemberAward #LeadingAgeMI #MissionDrivenLeadership #SilverMaplesProud #LegacyOfService #RetirementCelebration
Our annual staff picnic hit it out of the park this year with a fun baseball theme! Team spirit was in full swing as everyone showed off their Detroit Tigers pride while enjoying classic ballpark favorites—hot dogs, hamburgers, Cracker Jacks, and cool ice cream treats. Every team member also scored their very own Silver Maples t-shirt and ball cap—just a small token of appreciation for the all-star work they do every day. Thanks to everyone who made it a home run!
Our tour through MSU Gardens today was perfect, a beautiful breeze, amazing flowers and good company! Of course we had to stop at @dairystoremsu for ice cream before heading back to #silvermaplesofchelsea #summerfun #ailvermaplesoutandabout #weallscreamforicecream 🍦🍨🌸🌺
Honoring Juneteenth: Celebrating Freedom and Inspiring Progress June 19th marks a pivotal moment in our nation's history—the end of slavery in the United States. On this day, we honor the strength, courage, and resilience of the African American community and reflect on the ongoing journey toward justice and equality. Juneteenth is a time to remember the past, recognize the progress made, and recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive and equitable future. Let’s continue to listen, learn, and lift each other up—because freedom and dignity belongs to everyone.

What are people saying about Silver Maples?
Running into several friends touring at the same time made it feel as though we were already residents! Lucky us!
Silver Maples seems to be the right size--not too big, not too small.
The discussion of housing options and amenities offered at Silver Maples was thorough and helpful in decision-making. Christina took time to answer all our questions. Patti, the culinary Director, was friendly and gracious! We met a few residents, some of whom we've known from living in the Chelsea area for 40+ yrs. Each person expressed being very satisfied with the community. We were very impressed with the whole experience!
Very welcoming and caring staff and community. Residents are happy!
We recently moved into a Silver Maples villa. We expected to love it here, but it is even better than we expected. It is phenomenal! Great people, wonderful food, prompt service, lots of activities, and a caring family atmosphere. We are so glad we made the move.
My work was offered for sale at the 2023 Harvest Art Market. Barn Lion Studio makes original photo art greeting cards. This was my best and most fun show. The residents were very friendly and loved my cards. I will return in 2024.
My mother-in-law lived at SilverMaples for over 7 years and enjoyed her time there immensely. She developed many new friendships and the staff treated her like family. My only criticism was that when she moved over to assisted living and needed more help, they were occasionally understaffed.
My mother spent 5 wonderful years at Silver Maples independent living and two more years at the Meadows in assisted living. She loved both places and the care she received was excellent. The staff truly loved her and worked well with family concerns. Andy LaPorte
The caring and highly competent staff at Silver Maples is what makes this a special community. My mother lived there for about 8 years and for the last year and a half was in assisted living. The care managers set an example of compassionate care, and the care staff was awesome during a very difficult time. They were also kind and helpful to me and my family. I highly recommend Silver Maples of Chelsea.
Wonderful venue for fall and holiday shopping with diverse gift items.
Huge fan of this place! Wonderful community partner. The facilities, staff, and ambience are all top notch! Always excited when I have the opportunity to stop by!
I have been the Marketing and Sales Intern at Silver Maples of Chelsea for the last two summers and I could not have asked for a better organization to learn from, grow at, and serve. I consistently tell others if I could work here forever, I would! The bonds I have created with both the residents and staff is unmatched. The amenities & services are great, the care is wonderful, and the environment is warm & welcoming. I am so lucky to have spent two summers here; I cannot recommend this organization enough for individuals seeking employment & for families and their loved ones who are beginning to look at retirement home options.
It has been almost a month since my mom passed. She lived both in the independent living apartments and assisted living apartments at Silver Maples. We were very happy that my mom could be close to us in Chelsea and part of such a wonderful community. I miss my mom and I miss Silver Maples. Each time I drive to town I think of stopping at Silver Maples. Then I remind myself, no mom is not there anymore. The sense of loss goes beyond mom to the loss of a whole community of people that would greet us, tell us how much they loved my mom and her dog, and who supported us in the care of our mother. We (our family, staff and residents of Silver Maples) shared many times of happiness including when she won first prize for her Halloween costume (She looked forward to Halloween every year.) and sadness knowing she was near end of life. Thanks Silver Maples. Each time I drive by I will be thinking....I wonder how everyone is doing! Take care.
This facility provides many opportunities for residents to interact with each other and with the community, helping to keep them alert, active, and involved while enjoying music and other pastimes that they have participated in for a lifetime.
It a good retment place i came to see my mom a lots of times here.
Compassionate care. Great social networking. Stimulating environment throughout the campus. GREAT staff and planned activities.
