At Silver Maples, residents are at the center of everything we do. Every decision we make and every program we offer is designed to ensure they feel engaged, supported, and at home. And one of the most powerful ways we do that is by taking care of the people who support and enrich the lives of our residents.
Our staff—whether serving meals, providing care, fixing maintenance issues, or offering a kind word in passing—make daily life smoother, brighter, and more meaningful for our residents. When our team members feel supported, valued, and inspired, it directly enriches the resident experience.
That’s why the Employee Scholarship Program is so important. This year, Silver Maples awarded $52,000 in scholarships to 16 staff, thanks to the generosity of our residents and community members. Over the last seven years, this program has grown to award a total of $260,350—an incredible investment in the future of our team.
The scholarship program at Silver Maples is a powerful reflection of who we are as a community. It’s not just about easing the financial burden of education—it’s about recognizing potential, celebrating dedication, and opening doors to new opportunities. One of the most rewarding aspects of the program is supporting young staff—many still in high school or just beginning college—as they gain meaningful work and life experience in an environment that is supportive, uplifting, and rich in connection. They grow alongside our residents, developing skills and relationships that shape their future paths. For our staff, these scholarships are a clear sign that their hard work and commitment are seen and valued. For their children, it’s a vote of confidence in their future. And for Silver Maples as a whole, it strengthens our ability to attract and retain compassionate, high-quality team members—people who make this a truly exceptional place to live and work.
This year’s top scholars, Katlyn Williams and Boaz Strong, are shining examples:
“Silver Maples has taught me what love, family, and true support look like,” said Katlyn, who began working here at 15 and now serves as a team lead and weekend supervisor. “It’s where I’ve grown, where I’ve connected, and where I’ve built some of the most meaningful relationships of my life.”
Boaz added, “Working at Silver Maples has only deepened my belief that Chelsea is a place that values kindness, community, and is looking out for one another. It’s been an amazing place to learn and grow.”
These stories are deeply personal—but they’re not rare. Every year, residents contribute not just financially, but emotionally, to the success of our team. They cheer our staff on. They ask about their classes. They celebrate their milestones. And they give generously, not because they have to—but because they want to.
What makes this program truly special is that it’s driven by our residents. They have deep appreciation for the individuals who support and enrich their lives, and they’re eager to see them grow and succeed. Their generosity reflects the deep respect they have for our staff as individuals.
The Scholarship Fund is part of a broader commitment the Silver Maples community has made to support our team through every stage of life. Through our Educated Generations Childcare Assistance Fund, Employee Hardship Fund, and Employee Recognition Fund, we’re helping staff manage the challenges of daily life, recover from the unexpected, and feel appreciated year-round. These programs ease stress, offer stability, and reinforce the culture of compassion that makes Silver Maples so special.
When our staff feel supported—personally, professionally, and financially—they approach each day and situation with more heart, compassion, and excellence. And that matters. Supporting our staff means strengthening our entire community—from the residents who call Silver Maples home, to the people who serve them, to the greater Chelsea community we all love.
This is the Silver Maples model at its best: residents and employees caring for one another, investing in one another, and building a stronger, more connected community together.
