People Investing in People: The Culture of Caring Behind Silver Maples Scholarships

2026 Silver Maples of Chelsea Scholarship Recipients

Every year, one of the most inspiring evenings at Silver Maples is our annual Scholarship Reception—a celebration of achievement, generosity, and the remarkable connections that make our community so special.

This year, Silver Maples awarded more than $52,000 in scholarships to 12 deserving employees and their families, helping support educational goals, professional development, and future opportunities. Over the last eight years, the scholarship program has awarded a remarkable $312,350, representing a significant investment in the future of our team. The scholarships are made possible through the generosity of residents, donors, community members, and employee supporters who believe in investing in the people who make Silver Maples such a wonderful place to live and work.

While the scholarship awards themselves are significant, the evening is about much more than financial assistance. It is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, determination, and character of employees who are balancing work, school, family responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and countless other commitments while continuing to make meaningful contributions to our community.

Beyond helping employees pursue their educational goals, the program has become an important retention tool for Silver Maples. Many student employees choose to remain part of the Silver Maples family throughout high school and college because of the support, encouragement, and opportunities provided through the scholarship program. As a result, residents benefit from building lasting relationships with familiar faces who continue to grow alongside the community year after year.

Many scholarship recipients are familiar faces to residents—serving meals in the dining room, assisting in healthcare, supporting residents through daily interactions, or helping behind the scenes. Over time, these relationships often grow into something much deeper than a typical workplace connection.

Residents cheer employees on through exams, ask about classes, celebrate milestones, and offer encouragement along the way. Their support reflects a genuine interest in seeing younger generations succeed and a belief that investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen a community.

“One of the things I love most about Silver Maples is how interconnected this community really is,” shared Director of Development Kristine Bradley during the reception. “Our residents aren’t simply people who live here—they are mentors, encouragers, teachers, examples, and often some of the biggest champions these young people have.”

The scholarship program continues to grow thanks to the collective efforts of many individuals. Resident Council members have played an especially important role over the years, helping raise awareness and support through creative fundraising events and ongoing advocacy. Residents, family members, donors, volunteers, committee members, and staff all contribute to ensuring these opportunities remain available for future generations of Silver Maples employees.

During the reception, attendees also celebrated the stories behind several scholarship funds, each established through the generosity and vision of individuals and families who value education, opportunity, and personal growth. Together, these scholarships create pathways for employees pursuing college degrees, certifications, healthcare training, and other educational goals.

The evening concluded with recognition of this year’s top scholars, Boaz Strong and Charlotte Herrmann, who were selected by the Resident Council Scholarship Committee for their outstanding academic achievement, leadership, character, and contributions to the Silver Maples community. Both students shared remarks during the reception, offering heartfelt reflections on the impact Silver Maples has had on their personal and professional growth. Their stories served as a powerful reminder of what makes this scholarship program so meaningful—not only the financial support it provides, but the relationships, mentorship, and sense of community that help shape future leaders.

As scholarship recipients shared their experiences, a common theme emerged: Silver Maples is more than a workplace. It is a community where people genuinely care about one another, invest in one another’s success, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.

That spirit of encouragement, generosity, and connection is what makes the Scholarship Program—and Silver Maples itself—so special. Congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients. We are proud of your accomplishments and excited to see where your educational and professional journeys take you next.
